Hiking & climbing
The diverse mountain landscape in the Salzkammergut has something to offer for all outdoor lovers - whether families, beginners or professionals! Below are a few of our very personal highlights:
The Katrin is Bad Ischl's popular local mountain. The “most beautiful cable car in the Salzkammergut” takes you to the Katrin Alm in just 15 minutes. Above you can expect a fabulous view of various hiking routes (7-lake hike), a via ferrata and, of course, various culinary offers. Sports enthusiasts can also climb the mountain on foot or on touring skis in winter.

Via Rettenbachalm to the Totes Gebirge Mountains
The Totes Gebirge mountain range can be easily reached via the Rettenbachalm and offers excursions to the Blaa Alm and Altaussee, for example.

Panorama dream Schafberg
Probably the most famous hike and a very special highlight is the ascent of the Schafberg. If you prefer a more leisurely pace, you can also enjoy the wonderful lake panorama using the historic cogwheel train.

Krippenstein & giant ice cave
A wide range of offers awaits you at the Krippenstein: Whether mammoth and giant ice caves, Five Fingers, via ferrata or, in winter, Austria's longest ski run - you shouldn't miss it!
