 Narzissen im Ausseerland

Day trips

Bad Ischl is located in the heart of the Salzkammergut and is therefore the perfect starting point for a wide variety of excursions:

Hallstatt and its marvelous salt mine, the daffodil festival in Ausseerland, Gmunden or a short hike along Lake Wolfgang - the possibilities are endless. To make your choice a little easier, here are three of our favorite destinations.

Enjoy Hallstatt by train and ship

As Austria's most famous place, Hallstatt with its wonderful mountain scenery has even become a template for Disney films.

To escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy the landscape around Lake Hallstatt, we recommend arriving by train and boat in just 40 minutes: from Bad Ischl train station, which is 10 minutes away, the train will take you directly to Steeg. From there you cross Lake Hallstatt by boat and arrive in the center of Hallstatt, from where you can explore the old town, the ossuary and the salt mine.

Krippenstein - Giant Ice Cave and Five Fingers

A skier's paradise in winter and an absolute highlight in summer with the Mammut Cave and the Dachstein Giant Ice Cave: From the valley station, which can be reached in approx. 30 minutes, you can take the gondola to the middle station to visit one of the caves after a short walk (dress warmly for the giant ice cave!). A gondola ride to the top then leads to a breathtaking panoramic views from the "Five Fingers".
